I get grocery store flowers pretty much on the regular but sometimes I just don’t have the time or energy to try to arrange them all fancy. I came up with a brilliant way to save time and still have a great-looking floral arrangement. I’m going to show you the easiest way I know how to arrange grocery store flowers in 5 minutes or less!
Please Note: This is NOT the proper way
I have spent 8 years working with flowers for personal use with professional results. I’ve spent countless hours researching methods, products, and techniques. So just lemme be the first to tell you–this is NOT the proper way to arrange flowers. You really only want to use this method when you are in a hurry.

Example: Say you are having a party and someone brings you a hostess gift of flowers. Isn’t that just like so thoughtful?! Now, you are probably pretty busy greeting them and doing a million other last-minute things, but it would be thoroughly impolite to not take a moment and put the flowers in the water!
It’s not okay to just leave flowers on the counter!! It also looks really stupid to just stick the entire plastic-wrapped bouquet in some water. Flowers are meant to be enjoyed!
So, here’s the deal. I’m going to show you how I arrange grocery store flowers in 5 easy steps and in less than 5 minutes. You’re going to realize that it’s super easy. Then you’ll never leave a bouquet on the counter again! Yay! Let’s get Started!
First, get a vase.
Fill the vase with about 2/3 water, making sure the water isn’t hot or cold. Remember, flowers are alive!
Pull your vase up to the edge of your work surface and roughly measure where you want your stems to end. A good reference for measuring is to have 3-4 inches of stem and flower above the lip of the vase.
When you determine where you want your stems to be cut take the rubber band on your grocery store bouquet and move it to just above your cut line.
Using strong, sharp shears or a knife, cut the stems right below the rubber band. If you have the time, it is better to cut the stems at an angle and under running water.
After cutting through all stems you should have something that resembles the photo above. Go ahead and throw away the bottom portion of the stems. I love that there is hardly any mess to clean up!
Stick the entire cut bouquet, plastic and all, straight into the vase.
No, I’m not kidding. We’ll fix it in a minute!!
Use a pair of scissors to cut away the plastic! gently pulling one flower in one direction and then in another. The florist who made the bouquet already did the hard part of arranging them – we just got to get them into a vase!
