I am all about small projects that make a BIG impact! Small, quick projects like a custom matchbox! Can I tell you a secret? I get more compliments about this silly little box of matches than I have EVER gotten from any other piece of decor I’ve put on display in my home! And I made it in only 5 super easy steps.

This, my friends, is one of those crazy easy projects. It is so inexpensive and there is no limit on your creative options, this DIY really is a bang for your buck! You can match it to any décor or any holiday. I have even made a matchbox that matches my kitchen curtains made with extra fabric!

Today, I am loving the custom matchbox that sits next to my current favorite candle. Candles and I have always been besties. I love the way they scent a room unlike a plugin or air freshener. I love the ambiance and I love feeling fancy AF (because candles aren’t exactly cheap – especially when you burn them as I do!) But what I love most of all is the scent of matches when you strike them on the box and that brief moment when they spark to life. This may sound odd to you but…

I love how there is something truly intentional about striking a match.

Now that you know why I’m so crazy about this simple DIY matchbox, you are going to learn how to make one of your own. You will only need a couple of supplies and it will hardly cost you anything! In 5 easy steps, this quick project will take you all of 30 minutes! And since it is done in phases you can get other things done while the coats are drying since we are all about being efficient with our time!

Directions:

Step 1

Trace the outline of your matchbox twice on the wrong side of your paper and then cut out both pieces.Quick DIY Project - Holiday Mod Podge Match Box | from https://goldengluegun.com

Step 2

Once you get all your pieces cut out, confirm that they are a good fit. You want to make sure they won’t cover any part of the strike pad but you want them to slightly curve over the edge for a seamless look.Quick DIY Project - Holiday Mod Podge Match Box | from https://goldengluegun.com

Step 3

Using an inexpensive craft brush or foam brush, evenly coat the top of the matchbox and the wrong side of your paper.Quick DIY Project - Holiday Mod Podge Match Box | from https://goldengluegun.com

Step 4

Carefully position the paper face up on the matchbox. Gently smooth down, starting from the center and lightly pressing outward. Once the top has been evenly smoothed out press the remaining edges down around the curve of the box.Quick DIY Project - Holiday Mod Podge Match Box | from https://goldengluegun.com

Step 5

Seal the paper with an even top coat of Mod Podge in Gloss Finish and allow to dry for 30 minutes – 1 hr or until dry to the touch. Repeat the process on the other side, allowing the Mod Podge to dry fully before use.Quick DIY Project - Holiday Mod Podge Match Box | from https://goldengluegun.com

And Viola! It was seriously THAT easy. This is such a cute project that costs next to nothing and serves a purpose – my FAVORITE kind of project!
